AR6 Climate Change Projection Data Portal (Internal Use Only)
The AR6 climate change projections are based on the ensemble mean of downscaled climate data from 26 models commonly used in Canada. The raw data is sourced from the Canadian Downscaled Climate Scenarios – Multivariate (CMIP6): CanDCS-M6. With a spatial resolution of 10 km and a temporal resolution of 1 day, the dataset covers 19,485 grid points within Ontario. Available data includes daily, monthly, annual, decadal, and five-period averages, accessible for individual grid points and various types of regions such as public health units, cities, municipalities, ecozones, MNR regions, eco-regions, lakes, First Nation residential areas, and wildlife management units.
Description
AR6 Climate Change Projection Data Portal – Explore Regional Climate Change Data
Access comprehensive regional data on projected changes in climate variables, including:
- Annual or monthly temperature (TMm [°C] )
- Minimum temperature (TNm [°C] )
- Maximum temperature (TXm [°C] )
- Extreme minimum value of minimum temperature (TNn [°C] )
- Extreme maximum value of minimum temperature (TNx [°C] )
- Extreme minimum value of maximum temperature (TXn [°C] )
- Extreme maximum value of maximum temperature (TXx [°C] )
- Precipitation (Pr [% for the 4 periods, mm for decadal averages])
Data is averaged over 20-year periods for the near term (2020‑2039), mid term (2040‑2059 and 2060‑2079), and end of century (2080‑2099), relative to the reference period of 1995‑2014.
AR6 Climate Change Projection Data Portal – Ontario Regional Grid Search App
Search grid points within specified regions, including:
- Public health units
- Municipalities
- Cities (sub-regions)
- Eco-regions
- First Nation residential areas
- Wildlife management units
- Specific longitude-latitude coordinates
Users can utilize the listed grids to download climate change data and combine it with their own specific field data (e.g., public health data, ecosystem data) to study climate change impacts.
AR6 Climate Change Projection Data Portal – Global Coverage of AR6 Climate Model Outputs
There are approximately 1,700 outputs from global AR6 General Circulation Models (GCMs) available for the following variables: t2m, tmax, tmin, u, v, hus, pr, and ps.
These outputs cover historical runs as well as future scenarios: SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, and SSP5-8.5, at daily and monthly time scales, with global coverage.
The dataset includes results from over 60 different models.
If your project requires global data, please contact the database administrator to have the data prepared for you.
! Notice: Please contact the database administrator to request climate change data at daily, monthly, annual, decadal, or five-period average time scales, for grid points or regional spatial scales, covering the period from 1980 to 2099.
